Discover Oban

Places of Interest

Explore the great local attractions that are scattered in and around the coastal town of Oban.

We’ve listed some of our favourite places below to ensure you make the most of your west coast escape. With so many places to discover, these are definitely the ones to add to your itinerary!

McCaig’s Tower

One of Oban’s most famous landmarks is the town’s very own coliseum, McCaig’s Tower.

After indulging in a hearty breakfast at The Scot, we recommend climbing through the town centre to the prominent monument that sits above. The climb is definitely worth it when you reach the top as you’ll be rewarded with stunning views across Oban’s harbour to our neighbouring Hebridean Islands. Not only are the views magnificent, the gardens within the tower grounds are beautifully maintained throughout the year to allow you to wander and enjoy the tranquility of the local area.

Oban Distillery

A local favourite - and one of ours too! The Oban Distillery is definitely a must-see attraction for all whisky lovers.

Oban Distillery's 14 year old single malt is based on the character and heritage of our west coast town. This distillery hosts various tours with expert guides who will show you the art of distilling and the processes they use to create such a fine dram. Finish the tour with a whisky tasting and we promise it won’t disappoint. Sláinte!
